The Venice Beach Rec & Parks facilities, run by the Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks, includes basketball, handball and paddle tennis courts; gymnastics and boxing areas; skate parks; graffiti walls; children’s play areas; and more. Located on the Pacific Ocean, the Venice Beach Recreation Center oversees this number one tourist attraction in California. World travelers and locals come together here to create a unique and exciting blend of culture and lifestyle. Dozens of artists and street performers line the Ocean Front Walk across from retail stores and restaurants. Basketball, paddle tennis, and weight-lifing draw crowds of spectators, as do handball tournaments and skaters. MUSCLE BEACH GYM: Outdoor gym with free weights, machines, power rack, powerlifting bumpers & more. Bodybuilder Hall of Fame also found here. Open daily: 8 am-7 pm. $10 day pass. Weekly pass $50. Year pass: $190
BASKETBALL COURTS: 3 regulation & 1 stadium size court.
CHILDREN’S PARK: 2 play areas with swings and slides.
BOXING AREA: 6 speedbag platforms, 2 heavy bag areas.
GYMNASTIC AREA: Also know as the “sand pit” includes: 2 rings set, high and low parallel bars, balance bar, horizontal bar, and 2 climbing ropes.
SKATEPARK: 27,000 sq. foot park,including 2 bowls, snake run, rails, stairs.
SKATE PLAZA: rails, mini-wave, transitions.
ROLLER SKATE PLAZA: Live D.J. and dancing every weekend.
BIKE PATH: The bike path that runs along the beach spans 17 miles, from Pacific Palisades to the Palos Verdes peninsula. No pedestrians on path!
HANDBALL COURTS: 4 three wall courts and 3 one wall courts.
PADDLE TENNIS COURTS: 11 courts. Instructors on hand to teach.

RULES OF THE PARK:

-There is no smoking on park grounds , the beach and anywhere west of the Venice Beach Boardwalk. These areas are smoke free zones.
-Venice Recreation and Parks Close 10:30 p.m. – 5: 30 a.m.
-No animals allowed in Children’s play area
-Dogs prohibited on Ocean Front Walk from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m on Sat., Sun. and holidays. ( Between Memorial Day to Labor Day)
-Pick up your dog’s litter! Dog defecation must be removed immediately by owners under penalty of law.
-Unfortunately dogs are not allowed on the beach in Venice.
-Do not walk on the Venice Bike Path. It is meant for bikes only!
-No bicycles on Ocean Front Walk (Venice Beach Boardwalk). Use the bike path or speedway (street east and parallel to the Venice Beach Boardwalk)
-No BBQ pits on Venice Beach
-If you are 15 yrs and older, you need a permit to fish on the Venice pier. Permits can be obtain on the same day at any sporting good store.
-Throw your trash in the garbage bins or take it home with you. Please don’t litter! Keep our beaches clean.
