The Venice Chamber of Commerce is bringing The Wall that Heals to Windward Plaza in Venice to raise awareness about the city’s increased efforts to provide housing for homeless veterans. George Francisco, Vice President of the Venice Chamber of Commerce said, “The Wall’s visit to Venice affords us a moment to reflect not only on the sacrifice of the 58,000 plus names inscribed on it, but also on all the active duty service members deployed all over the world. It also allows us an opportunity to consider the effects that war has had on our veterans and how we can help those who are most in need.”

The Wall is being brought to Venice in association with Veterans Foundation Inc, a 35 year-old non profit organization that produced the nationally televised “American Veteran Awards Show” and was influential in creating the first welcome home parades for Vietnam Veterans.  More information can be found at vfi.org.

Bringing The Wall home to communities throughout our country allows the souls enshrined on the Memorial to exist once more among family and friends in the peace and comfort of familiar surroundings. The traveling exhibit provides thousands of veterans who have been unable to cope with the prospect of facing The Wall to find the strength and courage to do so within their own communities, thus allowing the healing process to begin.
