Event Description by Alex Stowell:  On Nov. 3 Google hosted an invitation only open house at its new Venice campus.  Along with a great selection of locals, Google’s employees were there as group for the first time as well.  It was quite a soiree.  There were runway models strolling with trays of beer to compliment an insane selection of food and drinks at the various buffets, restaurants and bar.  As well, there was a cool interactive tour of Google’s 12 projects, complete with team members on hand to talk to and a chance to win tablets and notebooks at every station. The speakers included Mayor Villaraigosa, Google Venice office director Tom Williams, Council member Bill Rosendahl and Susan Wojcicki, Google’s senior vice president of advertising.  The facility is just incredible.  It includes:  a couple of very well equipped gyms, beach cruisers and surfboards, game rooms, a rock climbing wall, a basketball court,  juice bar, coffee bar, organic locally sourced fruit and vegetable stand, several restaurants/buffets, graffiti walls, relaxation stations,  a huge grassy courtyard and probably a bunch more stuff that I am not recalling right now.  Everybody was in great spirits at the party.  There positive energy was abound.  Thank you for inviting Venice Paparazzi to this historical event.  By the way everybody, Edizen won a lap top during the self guided project tour.

Life at Google

Following taken from the Google website. http://www.google.com/about/

Google is not a conventional company, and we don’t intend to become one. True, we share attributes with the world’s most successful organizations – a focus on innovation and smart business practices comes to mind – but even as we continue to grow, we’re committed to retaining a small-company feel. At Google, we know that every employee has something important to say, and that every employee is integral to our success. We provide individually-tailored compensation packages that can be comprised of competitive salary, bonus, and equity components, along with the opportunity to earn further financial bonuses and rewards.

Google has offices around the globe, from Bangalore to Zurich, but regardless of where we are, we nurture an invigorating, positive environment by hiring talented, local people who share our commitment to creating search perfection and want to have a great time doing it. Googlers thrive in small, focused teams and high-energy environments, believe in the ability of technology to change the world, and are as passionate about their lives as they are about their work.

We’re always on the look-out for new Googlers. Take a look inside.
