Many came out to start the new year with a big splash at the 56th Annual Venice Penguin Swim on Jan. 1, 2016

Venice Paparazzi was on the scene at the 56th annual Venice Penguin swim on New Year’s day at the Venice breakwater. Hundreds of folks showed up to start off the new year with swim in the Pacific.

For the serious competitors there was a 500-yard, around the buoy race. The first man and woman to complete a 500-yard swim around a buoy and back were crowned the penguin prince and princess.

For the more casual folks, there was a family style, dip in the ocean, without the race element.

Norky the giant penguin was there for photo ops, and it was a great time had buy all!
