Here is a message from Venice Spring Fling:
Venice Spring Fling 7, the first of Milton Rosenberg’s two annual beachside festivals, rocked the beach with eight hours of music, dance, literature and art in its biggest year yet. The festival began with an extravagantly costumed show-opening parade down Ocean Front Walk, featuring drum and dance ensembles Samba Da Mudança (Samba for Change) and Samba Soul, and led by current Hollywood Carnival Queen Gisella Ferreira. The Ocean Stage rocked all day with musical performances by local and international talent in many genres, showcasing the best of Venice and its creative core: Western State, Jah Faith and the Royal Lieage Band, Dr. Madd Vibe and the Missin’ Links, Trulio Disgracias, Lili Haydn, and Pato Banton and the Now Generation. Live spoken-word performances were contributed by FlowPoetry, Ann Cohen (who also live painted the event stage side), and original Merry Pranksters George Walker and Denise Kauffman. Ya Harissa Bellydance Theater provided entertainment in between musical sets. It was a fun day for Venetians and a celebration of the soul of our fine city by the sea.
