The Venice Sign Shines Blue for Frontline Workers

Here is a message from our Venice Chamber President, and Venice Sign Event Producer George Francisco!

The historic Venice Sign is lit blue for the month of May to honor the courage and sacrifices of essential frontline workers.

The current crisis is demonstrating the tireless, innovative and too-often undervalued role of these individuals. In fields as diverse as health care, food service, public safety, transportation, sanitation, construction, banking, utilities, and education – their contributions inspire all.  In times of duress such as these, individuals must look to contribute to the commonwealth in ways large and small, as these dedicated men and women are doing every day.
.
The Venice Chamber of Commerce is grateful for their effort and is proud to say “thank you” with a bright blue Venice Sign.

About the Venice Sign:

The Venice Sign, a federally registered trademark of the Venice Chamber of Commerce and Venice’s most iconic symbol, attracts thousands of tourists to Venice. In 2007, the Venice Sign Restoration Project recreated and installed the contemporary version of this historic sign.  Since that time, the Venice Chamber has been responsible for maintaining the sign and for protecting its trademark. Today this lasting legacy is restored across Windward Avenue as a tribute to the celebrated Venice of years past and a modern day gateway to the world famous Venice Beach. Continuing year-round, the Venice Chamber of Commerce, through programs and events, raises funds to support the maintenance of the Venice Sign. Those interested in adopting a bulb or donating can go to venicesign.org.
