Chez Jay’s celebrates 61 years in Santa Monica!

About a year ago, Chez Jay hosted a super rad party for their 60th. Re-live their 2019 anniversary party

About Chez Jay:  Legendary Chez Jay, est. 1959, is a Santa Monica Historical Landmark known for its great food, generous drinks, and comfortable atmosphere.

The Hollywood Rat Pack’s presence started the lore, and it continues today with locals, tourists, celebrities and politicians mingling to enjoy the best hideaway tavern in town. With peanut shells on the floor and its famous jukebox playing all night,  Chez Jay is a place to soak up stories, enjoy a gourmet meal, and simply have a great time.  Stop in and become part of the legend!  Chez Jay, 1657 Ocean Ave. Santa Monica, California.

Here is last year’s 2019 event recap.

Santa Monica’s most iconic restaurant, Chez Jay, celebrated it’s 60th anniversary on Nov. 16, 2019.  It was a beautiful, summer like evening, full of happy familiar faces!  Guests donned their most dapper 1950s finery, listened to live jazz, mixed, mingled, drank, and laughed while enjoying a special menu with prices from 1959!  That’s right, 1959 which means Surf and Turf for $6.95, and Filet Mignon for $5.95, to name just two offerings!

And Venice Paparazzi was on the scene to document it all with a Chez Jay 1959 themed green screen photo booth!  View pics below!  Thank you to the Fiondella Family for the Chez Jay Vintage photos that we used as the backdrops in our green screen photo booth.

Jay Fiondella brought in an elephant on opening day in 1959.  The circus elephant munched on peanuts while surrounded by show girls at the bar.  ‘Til this day there is a dent on the bar that was left by the elephant.  Photo courtesy of the Fiondella Family Archives.

Michael Anderson’s son, Chris Anderson, who is now the General Manager of Chez Jay.  Thank you Chris for utilizing Venice Paparazzi’s photo booth service.  Go team!

Chez Jay offered original 1959 menu prices to everyone dressed in 50s attire. Neat!
