Venice loses the iconic C&O Trattoria

No longer will the sweet sound of live renditions of  “That’s Amore” ring through the air on Washington Square.   No longer will the savory aroma of Killer Garlic Rolls waft through the air just east of the Venice Pier.  No longer will there be a C&O Trattoria by the beach in Venice.  A  sad day indeed for the community.

Here is a message from C & O Trattoria’s Debbie Singer.

As we pack up our offices after 28 years at our beach location we reminisce about all the good times, memories made, birthdays celebrated, proposals, rehearsal dinners, fundraisers….the list goes on and on. So many wonderful people have worked here and traveled here from near and far.
.
We laugh and cry as we recall the funny and touching stories. Many of us have spent the better part of our adult life’s here.
.
We have shared good times and bad. This pandemic has been a dark time for many. Our hearts go out for all who are suffering during this trying time.
.
We like to think that we made a difference in our community. We believe that brighter days lie ahead. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
.
Tell us your stories!!  Keep C&O Trattoria alive.
.
We will be back.  In the meantime come see us up the street at C&O Cucina.

A History of C & O Trattoria

Courtesy of C & O

The C&O Trattoria  was opened in 1992 by the Singer Family “8 doors down” from the famous Venice Pier. It was a Venice Beach Landmark frequented by locals and tourists from around the world. The C&O family has created a fun, casual, friendly and festive environment for gathering together and feeling at home.

With unforgettable Italian Cuisine, gargantuan portions and affordable prices, in a unique and festive setting; C&O was a favorite place for lunch and dinner seven days a week. On weekends C&O serves hearty breakfasts on the beautiful outdoor heated patio.

The Killer Garlic Rolls, nightly sing-a-long, Honor Wine Bars make the C&O one of the most talked about restaurants in Los Angeles.

Looking back to Opening Night.

So sad! Thank you, Governor Newsome! 😡

Dear  C&O Trattoria, this is heartbreaking and shocking, you are part of the fabric of this fine city; I am one of those that worked there in my younger days, made many friends that I still have xoxoxo
.
This breaks my heart. My husband and I have been married for 12 years and have two kids. We had our first date at C&O. We have brought our local friends and family, out of state friends and family, and our own kids. We will hold on tight to our memories of this location and your staff the made it so special.
.
Our son’s graduation dinner from UCLA, our niece’s 21st birthday dinner, wedding anniversary’s and countless friend & family birthday dinners. So many great memories made here! The food and service is fantastic, thank you so much!
.
I first went to your restaurant in 1997 and have always made it a point to eat there whenever visiting Southern California. I told everyone I knew was visiting to be there and to bring a big appetite and their best singing voice. This is a sad day indeed.
.
Besides having delicious food, a wonderful staff and great service, you have given back so much to the community. Your generosity is felt in how you run your business and how you treat your guests. You will be missed, but we know where to get our garlic knot fix at C & O Cucina. Best of luck in any new venture you choose to persue. You will be loved and supported along the way…

My husband and I had our first date at C&O. We have “that’s amore” engraved in our wedding rings.
