Green Goddess Collective Hits the Trail: Great Hikes around Venice Beach

Green Goddess Collective shares with us their favorite Venice Beach Hikes!

The Green Goddess Collective is a pioneer in the cannabis industry, one of the original retail locations in Los Angeles and the Nation. Their vision is simple; the highest quality curated products delivered by the most knowledgeable staff in the industry. Cannabis is inherently local, and all the products The Green Goddess produces and offers for sale are known fully, from seed to product. They do not sell anything they do not evaluate and use themselves. They invite their current and future customers and patients to visit them, and learn and experience all that cannabis is and has to offer.

Have months of the pandemic left you feeling a little…antsy? Us too. But even if mask-wearing and social distancing aren’t going away anytime soon, we’d like to gently remind you that the Great Outdoors are still very much open and calling to you. Even in the heart of Venice Beach, hikes and trails are just a stone’s throw away.

So with that in mind, here’s a list of our favorite Venice Beach hikes. Be sure to bring good walking shoes, plenty of water, and oh yeah: Any other supplies you might need for an extra-special day out on the trails.

Let’s start with the easiest trail of all: The Venice Beach loop. A favorite with both locals and tourists, the trail offers stunning beachfront views as well as an opportunity to bask in Venice Beach’s native funkiness and charm. If you head to Santa Monica, the trail becomes an 8-mile loop, perfect for jogging, biking or just taking in the sights. Don’t forget to stop by the dispensary to say “High!”

One of Venice Beach’s hidden gems, Bluff Creek is considered by many to be the finest dog-walking area in the entire city. While it doesn’t span a vast physical area, the simple trail and surrounding area offers a refreshing and rejuvenating place for you to jog, meditate, work out or just chill out.

Another favorite for those interested in adding a little cardio to their hike, this special spot offers dramatic views of the greater Los Angeles Basin including Santa Monica Bay and the distant San Gabriel Mountains. The pedestrian path winds more or less gently uphill, but if you’re looking for a more strenuous workout, we recommend hopping on the stone staircase that leads directly to the top. You’ll definitely feel the burn, but the stunning vista will make it all feel worthwhile!

Though it’s less than two miles long, this trail is rated “difficult,” in large part because of the nearly 800 feet gain in elevation. But trust us, it’s all worth it:  There’s plenty of tree cover from the sunshine, and you’ll be rewarded by unique cliffside gardens and sandstone formations. At the trail’s northern end, you can continue on to the Santa Ynez Waterfall Trail and other natural attractions. Be aware that you’ll be away from urban areas, so you’ll want to pack water and other necessities beforehand!

No mystery why this is one of the most popular hikes near Venice Beach! From the cooling mountain fog to the spectacular views of the Pacific, Los Liones stretches from the lush vegetation of the canyon trailhead to desertlike chaparral near its summit. On clear days, you can even glimpse faraway Catalina Island! There are a variety of hiking experiences to be had here, from the short and sweet to a more strenuous 4-hour loop. But if you’re planning on bringing your four-legged friend, take note: Dogs are only allowed on the day-use trail.
