Venice After Burn, A Taste of Burning Man is Coming to Venice Beach

The yearly gathering dedicated to Art and Community is back:  two days of art, music, mutant vehicles, dancing, love and community, right by the beach!

  • What: An Official Regional burning Man event celebrating Arts and Community
  • When: October 23rd/24th — Hours: 12pm-10pm
  • Where: Windward Plaza, Venice beach
  • Admission:  Free entrance

The Venice Afterburn will take place again by the beach, on the Windward Plaza in Venice, California, on October 23rd and 24th.

An official Burning Man Regional event and family friendly, the Venice Afterburn brings the magic of the playa to our ‘default’ world and aims to re-create the culture of Burning Man, celebrating the spirit of community, gifting, creative collaboration and decommodification.

We create a space for burners to share their art, gifts, music, and all talents. The event is open to all participants, burners or not; it blends the vibrant, eclectic community of Venice Beach with the creativity of the Black Rock citizens.

Whether you have never been to Burning Man, you are just getting back from the renegade burn, or you’ve taken a long break from the playa, YOU ARE INVITED!

Some of the participating artists of this year’s edition: For the first time in Venice Beach ‘Hybycozo’ by Serge Beaulieu and Yelena Filipchuk, the Inverted Disco Ball by Alexander Tsaskin, and the spectacular ‘Tree of Giving’ art car.  Kukar art car will host live performers on its on-board mini stage, among which the famous Axon, a Balkan style Burning Man marching band will make a special appearance on Saturday afternoon.

Amongst the returning artists are Zachary Aaronson and his live torch painting, the Tikivision art car, and Jim Ottens with his ice-sculpting performance. Leif Maginnis, Denize Nicole, Debi Cable with her blacklight interactive space, Damien Jones, and the Martian Circus with their eclectic colorful performers.

And many, many more surprises!

Participation is encouraged: we don’t just want spectators, but participants! Come with your best costume, bring something to gift, interact with the many art pieces and performances!

EVENT ORGANIZED BY:

The Venice Afterburn is produced by non profit organization ‘Dogtown Artists United’ (501c3) and is ran mostly by volunteers.
.
Unfortunately, due to Covid19 we were not able to raise enough funds to produce the event and had to cancel our usual fundraising events for the past 18 months. This has taken a huge toll on the ability to fulfill the Covid19 City of LA requirements, as well as the usual logistic expenses.
We ask the Burner community to contribute financially to make this happen. Anything helps; the funds will be used to pay for travel expenses to some art cars that we really want to attend, as well as more boring things such as fencing, security, power and distro, which are all unfortunately very pricey but without them we could not make the event happen.
.
We thank you for the bottom of our hearts and we hope to see on you Windward Plaza on October 23rd and 24th!
