Belt Promotions at Rey Diogo’s Jiu Jitsu academy

Belt promotions is always a super fun day at Rey Diogo’s Jiu Jitsu academy.

Venice Paparazzi’s Alex and Edizen love jiu jitsu! And this post is about the academy where we train.

All current students, and tons of people who have trained with Professor Rey over the years all come together for a great ceremony to acknowledge the progress and commitment of those who are on the mats. On this day, which happens twice a year, athletes who train at the academy either get a hand shake, a stripe on their belt, or get promoted to the next belt. As well, many of Rey’s black belts who have moved on to open their own gyms, or left the area, come in to get a stripe added to their belt. This is the adding of degrees for black belts, and is done once every three years.

It was a happy, energetic vibe in the room, with much story telling and catching up being done. Representatives from Rey Diogo BJJ, local affiliate schools were present, this includes: Ocean Grown BJJ, Conejo Valley Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and Won BJJ.
