CBD Benefits: How and Why Do People Use CBD?
CBD products have become some of the most popular items at our Venice dispensary. Many people feel that CBD can help them to better manage their health and wellness. With an array of potential therapeutic benefits, CBD is a convenient all-natural solution to feeling and living better.
Why Try CBD?
If you’ve never tried it before, there are many reasons to give CBD a shot. For starters, CBD comes in many different forms and is easy to consume. Making the most of CBD can be as easy as keeping a bottle of sublingual oil on your nightstand for quick and easy dosing whenever you need it most.
Additionally, CBD is generally considered to be safe and to have minimal side effects. Its most common side effects are usually headaches and stomachaches that generally don’t last long.
CBD also won’t get you ‘high’ or affect your state of mind too much. With CBD, you don’t have to worry about feeling drowsy, overly-sedated, or being unable to perform the daily tasks you usually would.
What is CBD commonly used for? Here are just a few CBD benefits.
CBD Benefits: Anxiety
Many people rely on CBD to calm them down and free them from anxiety and stress. Numerous studies support the use of CBD as an anti-anxiety supplement and have noted its anxiolytic properties. In fact, one review of animal studies found that CBD displayed both ‘anxiolytic-like and antidepressant-like’ properties. But these findings have not been limited to just animals, human studies have shown similar results.
One 2011 study dosed social anxiety patients with CBD before putting them in public speaking situations. Researchers found that a dose of CBD was able to significantly reduce anxiety, cognitive impairment, and discomfort in speech performance.
CBD is not a miracle cure that will simply make your anxiety disappear, but it may be able to help you better manage it.
CBD Benefits: Sleep
Many people who struggle with anxiety also struggle to get good sleep. That’s because, for some people, anxiety can make it harder to fall asleep, stay asleep, and sleep later into the morning. Many people who struggle with poor sleep due to anxiety find that a bedtime dose of CBD can help them to fall asleep quicker and sleep better.
One 2016 study sought to determine the effects of CBD on a single patient suffering from PTSD-induced insomnia. Researchers found that CBD was a safe treatment for reducing anxiety and improving sleep.
Since CBD won’t directly make you sleepy or drowsy, you shouldn’t count on it as a sl
eep aid. But if you think that your anxiety is making it harder for you to fall asleep or is decreasing your sleep quality, then some bedtime CBD may be able to help.
CBD Benefits: Epilepsy
CBD has also been found to be beneficial in treating certain epileptic conditions.
A 2015 study found that CBD was able to reduce seizures at rates similar to other medications in patients suffering from Dravet Syndrome and Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome, two hard-to-treat epileptic conditions. A study from 2017 that treated patients suffering from Sturge-Weber Syndrome with CBD noted that 3 out of 5 patients reported a decrease in seizure frequency of at least 50%, and an improvement in quality of life.
Moreover, both adults and children have been able to take advantage of CBD in order to reduce seizure frequency and live better lives. CBD won’t be able to help everyone with epilepsy, but it may be able to help some.
