It was an epic day in Venice!
A day that will go down in Venice’s storied skateboarding history. Paying homage to the legendary wall riding done at the Venice Pavilion, Red bull came in and held a WallRide contest. The basketball courts were packed with skaters and spectators alike as competitors took turns skating a course that included several ramps and the wall of the handball courts. There was an international talent pool, and a heavy local presence that included both the Venice OG skate community and the new generation of shredders. It was a fantastic day and here is big high five to Red Bull! Let’s do it again!
Here is a message from Red Bull:
Professional and amateur skaters from Los Angeles and beyond convened at the Handball Courts at Venice Beach on Saturday to showcase their creative skills and compete against each other and LA’s finest at Red Bull WallRide 2019. Red Bull WallRide is the junction where skateboarding meets lifestyle as riders hit a series of wallride-based features.
Brazilian skateboarding sensation Pedro Barros turned in the most impressive sessions on Sunday to take home the inaugural Red Bull WallRide title.
“Red Bull WallRide really captured the spirit of skateboarding where you just get to hang out with skateboarders and have a good time with good energy and really good skateboarding going on.”
“Even though we were competing, I feel like we were all just here to have a good time. I think that’s what the energy really felt like. Being able to be in this scene in this scenic venue in Venice with all these skaters sand legends watching you skate and cheering you on is a testament to what skateboarding is.”
Joining Barros on the podium was Roman Pabich in second place, and David Lloyd in third. Also taking home honors as “The People’s Choice” winners were Venice locals Leandre Sanders and Haden McKenna.
