MOVING FORWARD TO THE PAST!   Article by Clabe Hartley.

This is an historical day in Venice as we re-kindled the old school nick-name “Washington Square” for the last block of Washington Blvd at the Venice Pier.
.
This time it’s been made official by the City of Los Angeles as per our Councilman Mike Bonin.  Let us embrace our sub culture community roots that make us the entry to Venice Beach.   Mr. Abbot Kinney would be proud.

.
A message from Councilmember Mike Bonin.  On Aug. 17, 2016, I joined neighbors and business owners in Venice to celebrate the unveiling of new signs identifying Washington Square.  These signs came at the request of the Washington Square Business Improvement Group and are a great example of the kind of community improvements that we can create when we work together.

About Washington Square:  The southern end of Venice is home to the 1,300 foot Venice Pier. and an upscale area known to locals as Washington Square. The crowds are good looking and the party is steady. Great restaurants, bars, shops, surf and skate shops, and people watching are the main activities in this neighborhood.   The Venice Pier, beach, and parking is located at the south end of Washington Blvd. The Venice Canals are located one block north of the corner of Washington Blvd. and Pacific Ave.
