Today the Venice Paparazzi “Pass The Spotlight” shines on Tony Fernandez, the Jim Morrison of The Doors tribute band Peace Frog.

If you have been in the V for any length of time you have probably seen, or at least heard, PeaceFrog  tearing it up on Sunday afternoon at what was the Venice Bistro.

.
Tony was raised in Playa Del Rey, and has been a lover of Venice, and The Door’s since childhood.  Originally drawn to their music as an escape from an abusive father, Tony is a living, breathing, tribute to The Doors culture, and specifically Jim Morrison.  He has  visited Morrison’s grave in France, jammed with Doors guitarist Robby Kreiger, and done charity work with late Doors keyboardist Ray Manzerek.

And, Tony is a follower of many of Jim’s life philosophies

Care for mother Earth, live each day like it is your last, and If you are not going to give it 110%, don’t do it, are just a few of the Lizard King’s ways that Tony embraces.
.
In the early days of Peace Frog, Tony even followed Morrison’s lead in regards to drinking.  But, eventually the alcohol had to go, as Peace Frog took center stage.
.
Sober for five years, Fernandez cite his sobriety as his biggest accomplishment.
.
.
With a weekly Sunday gig at Venice Bistro, Peace Frog has long been a staple of Venice music culture.  Now that the Bistro has remodeled, and reopened under new ownership as The Venice Beach Bar, Peace Frog is picking up where they left off, throwing down the jams on Oceanfront Walk.
.
If you have not had a chance to witness the ultimate Door’s tribute band live, you should!
Their next gig is at The Venice Beach Bar on April 2, 2017 at 8:00 p.m. They often sell out, so buying tickets in advance is always a great idea.   Click here for all upcoming shows.

.
Aside from gigging, a perfect day in Venice for Tony includes taking a walk with his dog, Venice Girl, grabbing a coffee, strolling  the boardwalk, talking with the artists, and hanging with his wife while watching the sun set over the Pacific.
.
All things that Jim Morrison probably did as well!  Except Morrison was not married, but that is just a technicality.
.
See you at The Venice Beach Bar for Peace Frog!
