Here are the 06.27 ground breaking event details from Councilmember Rosendahl’s Office:

Los Angeles City Councilmember Bill Rosendahl and the Department of Recreation and Parks (RAP) will hold a ceremonial ground breaking event to signal the start of the four-day installation of the Venice Beach Zipline attraction.

The ceremony will take place on Thursday, June 27, at 2:00 p.m., at Windward Plaza/Venice Beach Recreation Center, 1800 Ocean Front Walk, Venice Beach, 90291.

Rosendahl proposed the pilot program to the Venice Neighborhood Council in May 2011, which was then approved by the Los Angeles Board of Public Works, and finally the California Coastal Commission.

Canadian-based Greenheart Conservation Company will install and operate the three-month pilot program.

The forty-second long ride will attract 500 to 1,000 people each day, and generate about $150,000 during the pilot period alone.

Rosendahl insisted that two-thirds of its revenue be used for beach maintenance, such as maintaining clean bathrooms and trash bins.
