Muni’s liquor on N.Venice and Pacific, has closed and will re-open in several months as Venice  Food  and Wine
 .
Muni’s was an institution in Venice.   They opened promptly at 6:00 a.m., 365 days a year, fueling many an all night rager into the next day.  The staff was great, they greeted customers by name with big smiles.
 .
Well, today we are going to meet the good souls who manned the registers at this legendary liquor depot for the better part of the last two decades.

 .
Julian Lopez worked at Muni’s for 20 years,  lives in Venice and has 3 kids, including one at Westminster Elementary and one at Venice High.
 .
He listens to Julio Iglesias  and watches Tom and Jerry cartoons. Julian likes steak tacos, playing soccer, and says that  he has many fond memories of his regulars at Muni’s.
 .
Marco Martinez worked at Muni’s for 10 years.
His favorite song is “Paranoid” by Black Sabbath and “Rocky” is his movie of choice.  Marco likes to box, drink red wine and eat Thai food.
He has no children of his own, and says he wants to help kids stay out of drugs and gangs by presenting better things for them to do.
 .
Marco grew up here in Venice and “wants to be here forever, like Jim Morrison.”
Ricardo Martinez is Marco’s brother.
Ricardo worked at Muni’s for 14 years.  His hobbies are training mixed martial arts and playing soccer.
He likes spicy Kung Pao shrimp and coffee.
His favorite musician is Lionel Richie and he cites “Gladiator” as his movie.
Ricardo’s favorite thing to do in Venice is to walk around and socialize with the neighbors.  He tries to “enjoy everyday, be peaceful and help people.”  Ricardo has 3 boys who attend Walgrove Elementary.
 .
Ricardo has a message on behalf of the Muni’s staff:
 .
“Thank you for your support for all these years.  From all of us, we love you all.  We hope to make it back and work at the new store, but if we don’t we have many good, fond memories of you all through the years.  Thank you!”
