LAArtsOnline’s Paige Petrone

Today the Venice Paparazzi Spotlight Shines on LAArtsOnline’s Paige Petrone.

How long in business, and how did you get started?
I was previously with Variety and Venice Magazines, I began publishing LAArtsOnline.com monthly in May 2012, almost 6 years ago!! LAArtsOnline, yes all one word! I love that the site is the name, the name is the site address. We are a monthly online magazine celebrating the ARTS. We feature what’s HOT in the arts, theatre, film television, music and dining in LA in a monthly format. We publish 29 stories per month.

What accomplishments are you most proud of?
LAArtsOnline.com, of course. That it’s 100% mine, and that I’m able to express myself creatively with the writing on it.  My forte is talking (anyone who knows me, knows this!), selling, and promotions, not the writing.  So I’m most proud of the writing, as it’s out of my comfort zone.

Past ventures:
I worked in Manhattan for 9 years at publishing and adverting agencies. Moved to LA and have been working and thriving ever since. I love it here. In LA I worked for Condé Nast Publications, Variety, and Venice Magazine for over 10 years!

Future projects/Direction:
Continue to grow and promote LAArtsOnline.com. Hopefully continue to really increase the revenue it generates.

What advice would you give someone starting out in your field?
Don’t be afraid. Go for it! Even if you are scared.

Where do you find inspiration?
By things around me and things I experience. I also get inspired out of boredom. ha ha I don’t like to be bored. I like to be on the go go go, and always looking for the next thing to dive in to.

Favorite affirmation, mantra, or quote:
Fail to plan, plan to fail… and hard work pays off!

What causes do you support?
St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Children’s Hospital LA, Dog-o-ween (our annual dog parade costume event) and of course all the ARTS organizations in Los Angeles with and through LAArtsOnline.com

What’s one thing we can do to make the world a better place?
Be kind to one another.

List 1-2 things on your bucket list, and 1-2 on your VENICE bucket list
Travel in style to London, Paris, Italy and Greece.  I would love to be a home owner here in Venice some day.

Anything else you want to share about yourself to the world? Fun facts?
I love dogs, and have big compassion for all animals. I have also been living at the beach my whole life. Howard Beach NY, Long Beach NY, Santa Monica Beach CA, and Venice Beach CA. I went to high school at Stella Maris High School on Beach 112th Street in Far Rockaway Queens NY. So, you would say that I’m most definitely a beach girl!

Describe Venice:
Venice is hip, cool, eclectic, artistic, and beautiful with an edgy flare. I love the edge as it reminds of NY.

Describe your perfect day in Venice:
Super early morning walk (while grabbing coffee) with friends and dogs! work from home, afternoon walk with my pup and picking up a sandwich at Bellissimo Cafe on the way back. Then more work from home, a sunset walk and mingling with neighbors. If I’m not working my events at night, I’m usually at home after sunset. Back in my younger days I would hit local spots like Canal Club or James Beach for happy hour, and  bar hop on First Fridays on Abbot Kinney, or any Friday.  I still love to dine on Washington near the pier, especially at Mercedes’ Grill, The Terrace, Hinano’s, and The Whaler.

Where would you take a client that you want to land a deal with?
Chaya Venice, Scopa or a couple spots on Abbot Kinney… The Tasting Kitchen, Gjerlina, Felix, etc.

Any shoutouts or thank you’s?
Thanks to Venice Paparazzi. I am humbled by this tip of the hat.

Anything else about Venice that you would like to say?
Venice Rules! I love it here.

Paige and French Stewart

Who should Venice Paparazzi cast the spotlight on next?
Esther Chaing/Hama Sushi and  Mercede of Mercede’s Grille.
