SUCCESS!  Inagural Venice Beach Surf & Skate Fest

In what hopes to be an annual event, the VBSSF held on April 21st, 2012 turned out to be an amazing time for all who attended.  Even at 6am the excitement began as Long Board Collector Club members started filing in to grab their spaces.  By 9am most of the lot was filled and the swap meet unofficially began, with some folks selling half their stash before they even got it out of the car!  Music began at 11am with local favorites Street Smart setting the mood for the day.  Following them was the psychedelic surf sounds of Closeout, punk classics by the LA Death Dolls, blues & rock from the Venice Street Legends, with headliners Gods of Macho closing out the day.  Thank you to our sponsors Helen’s

Cycles, Pitfire Pizza, Stone Brewery, Pabst Blue Ribbon & Primo Hawaiian Beer for helping make the event a success.  It was great to see our local retailers, Rider Shack, support with their awesome display, as well as other exhibits brought down from ABK Skate, Joon Park, Jeff Lopez, The Sidewalk Shop among many others.  The food presented by Flake, Venice Ale House, Martin’s Tacos & Cairo Cowboy was devoured by spectators.  Thanks to everyone’s support, the Boys & Girls Club of Venice walked away with a nice stash of cash from the charity raffle, whose prizes were donated by local merchants.  Producer Brady Walker is proud of the event’s success and is hoping for more fun with another event in Spring of 2013!
