The last day to vote in the California Primary is on June 7, 2022!

June 7 is the day, so read up, research, and educate yourself so that you can make the best choice with your vote.

Not only is the Mayor’s job up for grabs, so are many City Council seats, including the one that is in charge of Venice and the West Side.  As well, the election includes the City Attorney, Sheriff,  City Controller,  and more.

S0, if you have been looking around at Venice and L.A. lately and thinking; WTF, who is in charge here, then now is your chance to vote in someone you think will do better.

CD11 Candidate Forum

In a 90-minute forum, Council District 11 (CD11) candidates were united in advocating for a safer community as well as the need to build relationships and consensus.

Westside Current and Circling the News hosted the event at the Hotel Erwin in Venice.  The candidates were asked about topics ranging from public safety to discretionary spending.

Subjects covered included: Public Safety, discretionary fund usage, the Ramada on Washington Blvd, permanent supportive housing, homeless encampment plans, lowering speed limits, police budgets, and infrastructure, among other things.

LA County Third Supervisorial District

The LA County Third Supervisorial District is considered one of the most powerful seats in California. With nearly two million residents, the Third District has a population larger than 14 states and Washington DC. The territory extends to the western boundary of both Los Angeles City and Los Angeles County.

On May 19, four local news outlets came together to educate readers about candidates looking to fill the Third Supervisorial District seat.

The candidates present:  Jeffi Girgenti, Roxanne Beckford Hoge, Craig Brill, Henry Stern, Lindsay Horvath and Bob Hertzberg
