Today the Venice Paparazzi spotlight shines on surfer Jason Smith.

Jason surfs Breakwater each morning and works renting boards and bikes at Muscle Beach Surf Shop! As well, he has started his own company, VENSUR.

VENSUR the Life! Surf, skate , love , live , explore , clothing , boards and STOKE!

I’ve lived 6 years in Venice!

What brought you out here, and what makes you stay?
Love brought me out here! Love keeps me here !

Tell us about your business or art?
The business and art of getting people what they want to better explore and understand the beautiful community I love so dearly is my job.

What makes it unique?
My job offers numerous toys to help anyone explore the west side!

How did you got into it?
I brought the double decker tour buses from Hollywood to Venice.

Biggest achievements so far…?
Being loved and welcomed by the community I get to live in!

Any advice to someone getting into this line of work?
Be patient , have compassion, care for each individual and want to learn!

What goals have you set for your business/art?
My goal each day is to treat people as if I would want to be treated!

What/who inspires you?
Venice inspires me to be grateful , free , brave, kind , empathetic, respectful , loving and true in all that I do!!!

Breast cancer, LGBTQ, USMC

Love more.

Anything else you want to share about yourself to the world?
Someday I’m going to fall in love and through that love a child will be born and I believe wholeheartedly Venice is the village to help raise this child!

Describe your perfect day in Venice? (start from morning to night)
Wake up at sunrise surf breakwater with my friends . Walk the canals to Washington, grab a cup of coffee from Cows End. Skate the boardwalk to my Venice sister’s pad walk Hoochie Momma . Once done walk with her to eat at the Fig Tree Cafe. After walking her home skate to the shop grab a bike go to Alphabiotics on Lincoln get adjusted by Doc Bruce then off to Abbot Kinney for salted caramel ice cream. Drop bike off nap then surf again ! Watch sunrise from on top of Erwin. Dinner date at Hama , walk on the beach……
